I recently compared B&W and SF. The B&W dealer didn't have the 802 in stock so I only listened to the 804. I loved the sound on more quiet sounds such as Tom Waits Blue Valentine but I felt a certain slowness in more fast-paced songs, I would say very British way of doing things. I really didn't like the bass coming out of them though I guess it must really be different with the 802 as they use bigger drivers.
The most comparable SF to the 804 is the Cremona M. I would not say it's better but it's definitly differerent. It's more musical, more Italian, it takes you by the hand and you enter the world of music. Bass may not be as deep but it's definitly more clean. Some speakers may be better in some part but on the overall SF is clearly on top. There is no kind of music it cannot play and they all play well (granted, I didn't try Skrillex on it ...). In that price range, Cremona is my favorite, followed by the Focal 1028BE and the 804, Dynaudio being far far away. The most comparable to the 802 is the Elipsa and they really bring it up a notch. It is simply twice as good and twice as musical. In the end you need to try them both and see which sound philosophy you like better. PS: in term of look, the 804 has really nothing special and the Cremona is clearly much nicer. However, I find the 802 to be quite pleasing and they stand out from the crowd. The 800 is really impressive. But the red violin of SF is just to die for ...

My own opinion is that SF's by design and Harbeth by design are very similar...meaning "polite" and "romantic" but not all that "stirring" and "involving".
If it's just for looks and you have the coin...why not I suppose. If being drawn into the music is of concern than I'm not sure the SF's can do that. Rick.
