Thanks blacsno, awesome looking setup! The plinth description sounds very interesting to me. Are those Black Diamond Racing Pucks it's sitting on? Any benefit? I'm dying to try a set of StillPoints under mine just to say "I've done it and everybody is right, the sound is crappy" or to say "the sound was improved and to what level". What is the scoop on your tone arm? Olskool

It would require taking the ones out from under my Phono Pre or the Amp. My fear would not being sure of what difference was being heard. So, I'm just waiting to get another set of SS's (I have them planned for Power conditioner or CD player). Besides I'm still Still exploring the Linn sound so although contrary to my statement, I can wait a bit! The journey and all that, you know. ;-)

I have a extra set of still points that I had put back into the box. The pucks your are referring to are NHL hockey pucks! Pucks with the Detroit Redwings logo do SOUND WAY BETTER than other team logo's! I tried "StillPoints v. Puck" and in this setup it was a tie in sound quality. I totally agree with others, you gotta put "SOMETHING" under the Sondek. So I'll find another application for the StillPoints. The OriginLive Encounter was a major step up over the Linn stock tonearm and was worth every dime!

Ken

Cool! What dollar range does the origin fall into, if I can ask?

I can add my positive experience with Origin Live tonearms. They used to just be modified Rega arms, but now all except the entry level ones are completely custom designed. I've owned several over the years, starting with their Illustrious which is one step above the Encounter that Ken has. I found their performance so outstanding that in a few years I upgraded to a later version of the Illustrious, and then to their top of the line Enterprise-C which is what I now have mounted on a Nottingham Dais table. They are medium mass designs which are well suited to most of today's cartridges, and provide superb tracking performance. When matched with an Ortofon Cadenza Bronze it is amazingly quiet while tracking the groove. Really stunning performers across the line, with a very dynamic and musical presentation that is really involving!

I placed an order yesterday for a "new" Lingo III power supply for the Linn TT. It is timed to hopefully coincide with the arrival of the Lyra Delos I've had on order for some time now. Is upgrading the 9CC Project tonearm the next order of business? The plan is to get used to the sound of the Cart and PS while stashing cash to fund the upgrade tonearm. Your thoughts? Olskool
