TT3 on Avantgarde Magnum
I posted a little while ago asking about anyone's experience w/ this combination but there were no replies. In any case I came across an excellent opportunity to acquire a nearly new TT3 and took the plunge. The TT3 replaces my 10 year old 9" Unify which has served me well. Thanks to Musical Surroundings and Needle Doctor for their assistance acquiring the specific TQ Clearaudio Champion arm board. I spent three consecutive evenings setting up the arm. The instructions are clear and all that is required are the hex keys supplied, a small flat head screwdriver such as included w/ my TT, patience, a well lighted work table, and a small steel ruler. After 8 discs (16 sides) the arm has functioned flawlessly and w/o a tracking hiccup. I have records acquired by my parents in the late 50s and early 60s that began life on a Fisher console TT, and still sound wonderful. I enjoy my CDs but there is no substitute for the presence and energy of vinyl. I read a lot of either negative or ambivalent comments regarding linear tracking arms, but I believe Clearaudio offers a superb product that I have found extremely enjoyable to use and listen to.
