I like both approaches. Gastinel is hard driving and mostly about the raw rhythm. A very explosive performance. I found Rostropovich's interpretation more lyrical. He pulls out what melody there is and brings out more humanity. In the end I also might prefer Rostropovich. I saw him conduct once. What a big warm personality. He was close with Shostakovich.
