Chuck.......Thank you. This is the first time I have purchased two computers at the same time, but it was definitely time to replace the desktop in my office and the old Sony Vaio.

Like you, I have had good luck with Toshiba laptops. My first two were Toshiba's. Then I moved to the Sony Vaio that has served me for seven years trouble free. You can't ask for more than that. Sony Vaio laptops are very nice, and I am excited to get this new one.

I no longer require a desktop unit or a separate monitor for anything I do. After using my latest MacBook Air for awhile now I can tell you I will be sticking with SSD for any future laptop and a 13" screen is plenty big for my "my" needs. I still can't believe that this thing can boot up in less than 15 seconds from complete power off or that Excel loads in 10 seconds.

Here's a cool video demo of my HP desktop that's being built this next week. I should have it in about 10 days.

Jeff.......Congratulations. You must be a happy camper.

I'm patiently waiting. The Sony Vaio will be here Monday. The HP desktop should be here the following Monday. I'm still chugging away on the Micron PC.

Thanks Dan - I look forward to migrating files over the weekend and getting it 100% functional. I have most of my FLAC files moved over already

I look forward to hearing about your two new machines when they arrive. My wife has a Vaio laptop (about 3 years old now) and it has been very good outside of not quite as long of battery life as she would like. She leaves it plugged in most of the time so not a big deal, plus she has a Droid 2 phone now for when she is on the go. I'm pretty sure the new ones will be a lot better.

Nice to hear that you are donating your old Micron machine to a local church when you get your new PC - a very cool thing to do!

If you get more than 12 months out of a battery then consider yourself lucky. The half-life, even on Li-Ion, isn't what we'd all expect it to be.

I got around 18 months out of my last laptop battery and actually convinced Dell to send me a new one gratis (they now sell battery warranties). Several of our tablets at the office lasted 2 years and a few months, but because they were always plugged in it was difficult for me to tell just how toasted they were; once I started getting complaints of "when I moved from my office to the other room my batter dropped by 75%" - I then knew we were well overdue for a new set of batteries.

However, we're considered "heavy" users.

.
I am surprised at what you say. I got 30 months out of my original MacBook Air Battery and then the Tech at the Genius Bar replaced it for free. Great Apple service.
