Default MCD-1100 in the House

As some of you may have read in other posts on Wednesday I decided to go ahead and purchase a MCD-1100 The unit arrived my Dealer yesterday and I picked it up and installed it this morning. I had waffled a bit for a few reasons: 1) cosmetics, it does not carry the 1000 series look 2) insufficient number of digital inputs 3) my two servers thru the D-07 sounded very good and I did not miss having a transport after selling my MCD-500. 4) was I going to go in another direction and go with all Accuphase, MBL or possibly Pass gear.

A couple of weeks ago I brought a demo 1100 home and compared it to the DAC's in my D-07. I found myself preferring the MCD-1100 by a slight margin especially in the vocals. In addition I would regain SACD capabilities without having to add a Esoteric P-05 transport to my system.

I decided to go ahead with the 1100 for the following reasons: 1) it does sound very good 2) I have ordered a RCA to BNC digital cable from Ivan which will allow me to connect my MS-300 (RCA) Olive 4HD (BNC) and SonoS (optical) providing most the flexibility I require. 3) I have eliminated one box from my system ( -MCD-500 and -D-07 then MCD-1100) 4) My rack gets a more homogenous look with all McIntosh gear.

I have just started breaking in the unit and will keep you posted.

Jim

Congrats Jim...

I'm sure the MCD1100 will be a great addition to your beautiful system. I have to share the opinion that it's a shame the MCD1100 doesn't carry the 1000 series look.

We'll look forward to your further impressions!

Pete

A question for any of you MCD-1100 and C-1000 owners. Have you figured out which button will swap digital inputs using the C-1000's remote. For the MCD-500 I think it was the blue Output 1 or AM button.
