Too much Too soon?
I have made quite a few changes to my system over the last few months. First change and the biggest, I added a C1100 replacing a loved C2300. Big step to bigger stage with better separation.
Then I added Stillpoint Ultra SS’s under my MC2301s and honestly, that was equally impactful. Finally within a week of each other, I added Stillpoint minis under every front end component along with my PS Audio P10 AND installed GoldLions in the output stage of the C1100. This last set of changes has thinned out the sound of my system. The GLs have 145 hours on them so should be about level in there burn-in evolution. I still have a solid center image and great separation but the balance of my Strads to my JL Audio F-113v2 seems to have moved toward a colder and thinner sound. My question is do I keep listening in the hope that this is a result of improved clarity and I need to get used to it or do I start removing Minis? Alternatively, I have even considered starting over with the Master set and Sub integration... (paranoia).

Craig, at the risk of committing Stillpoints and Goldlions heresy, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. You have great ears - trust them. Take out the new additions one at a time and see if the magic comes back. I would start with the tubes. Keep us posted!

My flaw is "if one sounds this good, then two must be better!"
Especially with cables, I find cable looms to sometimes be too much of a good thing for example.

IMO, you are making the system more resolving with the laundry list of great components. Are you using specific known tracks to determine your findings?

I’ve had this happen to me in the past when throwing too many changes at my system in too short a time. As Randy says, back up a couple of steps to where you were happy with the sound, then introduce changes one at a time and live with each for a while before introducing the next. With the Stillpoints I’d only do one component at a time. I’m a big fan of Stillpoints, but they don’t always work under every component and on every rack.

+1 I’d swap the tubes back to what you had originally and give it a listen for a while with the same source material. |

That's a shame, let us know when the magic returns.

Good thoughts all! The tubes are a PIA to replace so I am going to remove isolation on my source components first and see what happens. I will leave the SP under my P10 and the MC2301s (because they are heavy!)
I do have a Playlist which I listen to often and use to assess changes. No panic here.
