I have audition Mcintosh, Magico, Snell, Klipsch, and Bozaks speakers and found except for the 3500 the MC 75 gave the best results. Better than a 2301 for sure. Magico S5's and S3's just don't sound right with anything else. Especially when reproducing basson, Oboe, English horn, alto, bass in Eb or Bb, and Contra bass in Bb clarinets. C and Bb upright tubas sound better, too, as do Kettle drums.

I miss Dan. Bought my MC601s after reading his review and same with my Aurender N10.

RIP!

I just read Ivan’s post. What a loss. I’ve been missing Dan’s posts and wondering. I had no idea. So sad. RIP.

I don't post on here too often, but oh my word - what a terrible loss.

I never knew you Dan, but I'm going to be listening to my MC75's this afternoon and will be thinking of you.

I rarely post on this forum but I just wanted to say that it was because of Dan that I jumped onto McIntosh. As I'm writing this not only am I thinking about all of your great reviews but also your countless acts of kindness shown to the many people on this forum. It is because of Dan that I'm currently listening to my Mc75s and C2700 to my Harbeth 30.2 speakers /Sennheiser HD600. You will be sorely missed. May peace be with you my friend.

I miss Dan too. Though I no longer have them, Dan's posts on the MC275, C2300 and Sonus Faber Mementos convinced me to buy them. After purchasing, listening to, and absolutely loving these components, I totally trusted Dan's reviews and felt confident that I could buy something without hearing it for myself. Someday, I plan on buying a Schiit Yggdrasil DAC because of his glowing review.

Sometimes life is so unfair. Dan was a beautiful person.

great review! That is exactly the mono block amplification solution I would go for if I went the mono block route... Thanks.
