Default 7T set up

I found a pair to listen to. It was a large room about 18' x 30' with a raised area in the back(like a theater). The speakers were about 10' a part, 4' from side walls and the front baffle about 50" from the back wall. I sat about11' away. They were powered by an Ayre amp and cd player. I was not overly impressed, I'm thinking it was the room and setup.

Now that I've digested it little bit. Newer construction, stick on felt floor tiles over concrete, uncomfortable leather sectional for the chair. Nothing at all wrong with the bass, just not a very wide sound stage and sounded like speakers until high volume. I think just a bad room .

Sounds like a placement and room problem. I heard a pair in a smaller room with correct treatments and proper placement. They were awesome.

I should have my 7Ts on 5/16/2014. When you speak of setup, what I don't like about Aerial is, unlike some highend speaker companies, Aerial doesn't require their dealers to setup the speakers. It may be because of the limited amount of dealers they have? My room is 20' x 24' and I'm wondering what's a good place to start with placement? How far apart and from the front/side walls should my initial position be? I do have 3-5' to adjust where I sit.

As far as initial listening is concerned, I've learned that the more neutral a speaker is, the more unimpressed an initial listening session can be. I've found with Revel and Rockport my initial impression was they weren't anything special. The longer I listened the more I realized just how musical they were, they just didn't highlight one part of the music. I hope I feel that way about the 7Ts when I receive them.

I received my Aerial 7Ts a few days ago and I submit they are one of the best values in highend. To put in in perspective let me give a brief history of some of the speakers that I have owned: Mirage M1s, Devore Fidelity 8s, Artemis EOS, Audio Physics, Wilson Audio Sophia 2s, 3s, Sashas, Revel F52, Revel F208s, and I have listened to many others. I'm driving them with a relatively inexpensive Peachtree Nova220 SE and use a NAD 565bee CD player. My speaker cables are Silver Audio Symphony 48 and I use a Stereolab Black Cat digital cable to connect my CD player. My room enables me to place the speakers 5' from the front wall and several feet from the side walls. I have a bigger, more defined soundstage than ever before. The mid-range and tweeter is better than any speaker that I have owned. They have detail, but provide detail without being analytical. The Wilsons were a smidgen more dynamic. The Revel F208s had a larger sweet spot, but the imaging was a little diffused. I think the key to any speaker is buying the right speaker for your room.

There are NO secrets on speaker placement, although some will tell you there are. See these companies websites for their set-up procedures:

Yes, more hours and hopefully room treatment in the next month. I'm looking into GIK Soffit Bass traps to begin treating my room.

Today I had loaner ASC tube traps and Acoustic Panels. In addition, I finally spiked the 7Ts. The ASC tube traps really cleaned up the bass in my room. Consequently the entire spectrum is cleaner and sounds smoother. The Acoustic panels are rather narrow and didn't have much effect on the sound. Either I need more panels or they just weren't big enough. I had them placed at the first reflection points. The 7Ts must be one of the best deals in highend speakers and I don't understand why more people don't talk about them?
