The Furman unit I'm eying is the FI1500-UPS which is rated at 1500VA and can accept a battery extension via the BATT1500-EXT for an additional time (4x that of the base unit alone). The FI1500 has 8 outlets and can be equipped with a network module so you can control remotely.

APC has a couple units, the S15BLK at 1.5kVA (so the same as the base Furman unit) and the S20BLK with a bit less battery capability, 1.25kWA but adds network manageability. Both units have 12 outlets.

Anyone have thoughts on these 3 units?
I am using three APC UPSs in my system without any issue. Anything with a hard drive or sensitive electronics gets is power via a UPS.

I'm not seeing any specific mention about sine wave on the PurePower and APC spec pages.

I've been browsing the PurePower site and like the Furman the units can accept external units for adding more battery backup, seems you can add up to 2 external units. Anyone know how the external units connect? Also I see an interesting option, the units come standard with Hubbell outlets but you can switch to Furutech's FPX outlets, either the copper, gold or rhodium. I wonder if they would allow you to add Furutech's GTX outlets

I haven't been able to find any rear panel photos of these units which is odd.

I finally found pictures of the backs of the PurePower units as well as the battery extension modules.

The PurePower and APC units do produce pure sine waves. I also just finished reading that the APC units can also connect to external batteries, up to 2 can be daisy chained for 200% battery life.

Looking into the prices the Furman and APC units are relatively comparable, the APC stretches out a bit for the S20 though. The PurePower units are quite a bit more than the other two. This is going to be a tough decision.

It looks like the PurePower units would allow for the most usage during a power outage given the number of external modules that can be added. Plus as a more high end audio/video geek feature is the option of adding the Furutech outlets

Both the APC and PurePower units have detachable power cords so after marker cords can be added so that's a bit of a plus. The Furman's power cord is built in which is unfortunate. The APC has the most outlets at 12 followed by the PurePower (the +1500 in my case) at 10 (the +2000 and +3000 both have 12, 10 15a outlets plus 2 twist lock high current outlets) then the Furman at 8.

One thing I find odd about the PurePower+ 1500, the only 15a device out of the 3 PurePower units, it actually has a 20a IEC even though it's a true 15a device. The cable that comes with it is a 20a to 15a cable. Very odd design choice. I wonder why they used a 20a IEC and not a 15a one.
