MQA has been convincingly demonstrated at Consumer Electronics Shows, and most recently at an event sponsored by New York City dealer Innovative Audio, where Wilson Audio Specialties' Peter McGrath, an accomplished recording engineer, played unprocessed hi-rez files of his simply miked orchestral recordings, followed by the time-corrected MQA versions. The differences were profound, and obvious to all attending: The MQA versions had greater image solidity and three-dimensionality, and wider perceived dynamics"

Just a positive note, on all the negative ones in this thread
Who coined the phrase MQA=Most Questionable Audio? Seriously, for those who like MQA, buy it. I personally have no interest as I am satisfied with my current Bryston sound and now my focus is listening to my software.

"You shouldn't have to make excuses for a DAC costing $18,000." — John Atkinson

A big thumbs up to John Atkinson. He tells it like it is after measuring the Brinkman Nyquist DAC. That frankness is often absent in today's audio publication. Way to go Stereophile.

This is what what I mean on this thread, you are not interested in MQA and happy with your current Bryston sound, that's fine, but why come up with MQA=Most Questionable Audio ?

Yes I agree, the measurements have put me off to buy this DAC, although it was also mentioned that it was not clear in what magnitude the measurements influence the sound.

Maybe MF liked the sound of the DAC because it has all that analog distortion with the tubes etc.

Olaf.......The thing that is important to remember here, or any other forum you may participate in for that matter, is you are not preaching to a choir of like minded compatriots, you are conversing with a wide audience with various levels of knowledge about a given subject. You will receive a vast array of responses to nearly any subject or idea. Those with whom you agree create a warm consensus but do not generate much food for new thought. Those with whom you disagree can occasionally be the ones to spur fresh points of view and ideas. Of course there will always be those who's contribution revolves around poking fun at what others consider a serious discussion. Mix it all into a thread discussion and you have the genesis of what keeps forum posts interesting. If a comment doesn't fit into your mold you can do one of three things in my opinion, challenge it with facts and proof sources, ignore it, or find some humor in it and enjoy a good laugh. Resenting responses that you do not agree with only stresses you, rarely the author.

In you are in the frat (audio), you got to be able to take a little jest and ribbing every now and then. Plus, if one has reasonable sensibilities, the above quote is easily interpreted in jest. Great posts JDandy and Richardallred.

That is awesome. Not every piece of gear, no matter the cost, produces an orgasmic response. Although most reviews make it seem that way.

Actually the gear received a very good write-up from the reviewer. It was JA who found the specifications to be wanting, something the reviewer predicted even though he liked it.
