Hi guys, has anyone tried the entry level naim 5i on Dyn's 52SE's? there is one on sale now but don't want to spend if the power is not sufficient.

Thanks

I auditioned a pair of 52SEs on a NaimUniti with no problem. The Uniti power section is based on the 5i. That combination will sound and work great.

Hi,

I'm considering the Uniti with my S3.4s but concerned about the requirements to use Naim cables.

Can anyone shed light on this?

You don't have to use Naim speaker cables with the Uniti, although it is recommended. That requirement refers more to the classic series amps and older Olive and CB series than to newer designs. I used Transparent Audio speaker cables with a my NAP250-2 for a long time, but at one point I tried an old pair of NACA4 cables and they sounded better. I ended up getting a used pair of Naim NACA5 speaker cables and they sound better yet.

Are you thinking of getting an older Uniti, or the new Uniti 2, which has a bit more power (70W vs 50W @ 8Ω)? These would be a great match for the Contours.

Sounds promising. I have 845 monoblocks so was just looking for a digital source/server and reasonable preamp. The uniti seemed to fit the bill nicely. If the uniti2 is just more power, I don't think I need it.

Am I barking up the right tree?

Thanks again

Mike

The Nait XS is one of Naim's best values, and very upgradable (Flatcap XS, ext amp). Sounds worthy of something twice the cost.

yeah! I just read techradars review on the XS.. it makes me wanna buy it now..

question: where do you guys buy your Naim gear? Is there an online store? I checked my place and I have 1 dealer-- but the dealers website has no 'stock' XS.
