Back in the Uk
Hi Everyone,
its been a while since i posted, work and relocating back to the UK has kept me off of the forum. But now I am back in the UK and back in my house. After two days of unpacking 300 boxes I felt I could start to set up the music room. This is a work in progress that started 5 years ago just before I left the UK for Switzerland. In that time I had bought Shindo pre and power and replaced the speakers with larger models... the room was originally tweaked for solid state (gryphon low end) and had never been used for tube joy! There is a long way to go but the room already sounds good, but I have no real benchmark since all the kit has changed.... when I first arrived the giscours was not working, i took it to a local tube guy and had it checked... loose tube no real issue... However, whilst the pre was with the tube guy I tried the dac straight to the CC80's and it sounded quite good (again no bench mark). One the giscours returned I waited a week and then installed it. Wow - what a difference, for a brief time i was thinking of selling the giscours and upgrading the MSB dac straight to the power amps... Not anymore. From the piccies you will see the room has around 22 acoustic treatments in place. I'm going to sound test the room again with the new kit and I've also gotta look at the power treatment required (check out the 10 plug monstrosity behind the rack :-( ). hope you are all well, Paul
