Default Do Cables Age ?
I bought Harmonic Technologies Pro 9 biwired(12')cables in 2004. Am I going to hear an improvement changing them out for a modern cable ? Should I measure the cables resistance ?

Cables don't age; connectors will oxidize, and of course technology always marchs on. I believe you would hear quite an improvement with one of today's popular offerings.

Ditto, I have seen that also. Cable jackets can also become brittle and crack, although I don't think that was the original intent of the post.

Might not one also infer from this information, that such aging might well vary in accordance with the particular cable manufacturer?

I just got some very expensive older (circa 2007) Siltech RCA's that compare to very expensive newer cables I have. They just required a little cleaning.

I concur with Ivan though, and after joining AA have been very pleased and impressed with Wireworld, which are amazingly priced.

I still use Cogan-Hall cables, parallel copper tube speaker 'cables' which I thought would degrade over time but discovered the tubes are coated to prevent oxidisation. Old but very good cables, rather awkward in use though because of the bulky construction. Also have some C-H interconnects also good.
