I want to know if that setup can get up to 176/192khz over hdmi.
I am thinking of replacing my bdp-95

Also I was wondering if the sp3 bugs that get player to skip constantly when using analog input and the hdmi is still connected got fixed?

my sp3 only sees a max of 96khz over HDMI from my bdp-93. James said they'd test an oppo out

I've been considering an SP3, which should play nicely with my 6B-SST(C) and my two 4B-SST(C) amps. Bryston's James and Stan were very helpful in answering my queries, making my decision an easy one.

You guys . . . your astute and helpful forum posts, and those from James, got me thinking . . . always dangerous. So a couple of weeks ago, I ordered the SP3, BDP-2, and BDA-2: 17" black panels, blue displays.

Just remember, it's your fault that I'll have lots of questions for you, so . . .

Stop the madness! Be less helpful.

Yes.... because it does not have a VIDEO board - we simply strip off the Audio and pass on the Video. That way we stay out of the video wars and it makes the SP-3 a much more long term product for our customers.

There's no longer any bug with the SP3 causing skipping etc of the player. The only thing you need to do is to choose the correct HDMIinput tied to the used input for balanced analog. If you use bal-1 input, then use HDMI 7 input, if you use bal-2, then choose HDMI 8. Thus it should work properly.

For me the unit now works perfectly. The only wishes I have are the SP3 to support ARC (Audio Rate Control) and DSD through HDMI.

I think what Bryston has said is that the SP3 doesn't touch the video, so it shouldn't matter what kind of video is in the signal. The Bryston just sends it on the way it came

The audio is embedded in the same HDMI data stream as the video, so there needs to be a certain amount of decoding taking place, which implies the chipset needs to at least support 4k bandwidth. Anthem, for example, has stated that their processors will not support passthru of 4k even though the video board was just upgraded to add a passthru mode (for 3D). When the board was being designed there were no such chips on the market, so they say.
