How would you compare the sonics of the REF10 linestage and REF10 phono?

They are both sounding marvelous, gap between Ref phono 10 and Ref 2 se is perhaps more prominent compared to Ref 10 preamp vs Ref 5 se. Both Ref 10 pre and ph make everything Ref 5 se and Ref 2 se do better but also bring additional details, harmonics, energy and drama. They solve the complex passages in a way which creates sheer realism almost without constraints. Both Ref 10 units have similar sonic clothing.

Don't we all miss the good old times when tube were made to last 10 000h or more (Telefunkens, military grade etc.)

Realistically you can expect new production 6H30 to last 4000 - 5000h hours when driven conservatively (<50% power capacity). I remember even seeing opinions of tubes sounding better close to end of lifetime (better always being a subjective definition). However at least 6550 in PSU will need replacement much sooner and will degrade once starting to lose emission after 2000 - 3000h. Unfortunately current production tubes are not made to last (cut expenses) and individual variation between samples is much greater than high quality production of past. NOS does not always mean better quality as most of the production was sold at the time and now even tube which were rejected at the time of manufacturing will be sold as NOS.

I'd recommend trying an Ayre KX-R Twenty; truly breathtaking sound (as is the price, unfortunately.)

Can you describe the sonic differences between Ref 10 and Ref Ann preamp?

There's an account of differences between the REF ANNI and REF10 in this review on TAB.

So Soulution and Burmester were out.
Don't know about Soulution, but Burmester preamps have a phase inversion function that changes the polarity on the XLR connectors.

Another option would be the Boulder 2110.
