Appreciate your feedback on this Bob.
Sincerely hope and trust that the Clearaudio front end will please you. It can be a source of amazement with high quality all analog LP's. Miles Davis will stand in front of you life-sized with some of the 45 rpm reissues of Blue Note recordings. The new DG repressing of the 1960's recording of von Karajan conducting the Berliner Philharmoniker playing the conclusion of Beethoven's No. 9 is reproduced with ease. Properly set up, it is the kind of instrument for the reproduction of music that you lead you to question the 'supremacy' of digital.

Let us know how it goes and have fun!

Bob

Excited to hear the analog front end. The choice got better as my dealer just told me that Clearaudio is announcing a 10% price increase as of April 1(April Fools?), don’t think so. Anyway, the upgrades throughout the system are exciting and clearly discernible. Adding a new TT etc. is a big upgrade. Can’t wait.

New member to the 611 club, still a card holding member of 601 club too. Look forward to hearing for myself what the 611 brings to the table driving my Sasha DAW. Image1645832633.499702.jpg

Here's the photo of one of Dan's MC601 meters that made quite an impression on me (please notice his words about headroom):

Gents, many of you may know that I've been impatiently awaiting the arrival of the MC1502 that I ordered 14 weeks ago. In the interim I have been looking over the marketplace for other Mc gear and there is a good number of top quality used 601's out there for prices that are less than what I've paid for the 1502.

So I've searched around to see honest comparisons betwee the 601 and 611. The posts that I quoted above is just about all I've found on this site. I know the 611's specs show a paper improvement over the 601's, but I've also have been around the block enough times to know that the newer model is not always an actual improvement over the model it replaced.

I'm hoping some members here can chime in that have some time in on both amps. I'm hoping for an honest assesment of the sonic differences should there actually be any.

Just ordered a few more upgrades.

Change the 5 amps for center and surrounds from MC-601 to MC-611 (the last 4 will be delivered in the mid of march.
And ordered the new MX-180 to exchange the MX-170.

Made an upgrade for my HT-PC too.
Throw it out and replaced it with an Aurender W20SE and a Zappiti Reference Video Server.

And at least replaced the B&W 800D3 and the HTM1D3 with the new 801D4 and the HTM81D4

The improvement was massiv.

I'm very happy with that choice.

Peter

Right when the 611s came out the dealer who sold me my 601s setup the 611s and 601s to Dynaudio Contour 60s. We listened for an hour switching back and forth and I couldn't tell any difference. Might just be I'm getting old and my ears aren't what they used to be. I do know on a machine the 611s have slightly better results.

Interesting obervations from an A/B comparison. I listened to the 611's when they first came out, but I had no memory of the 601's so I have no frame of reference.

Just looking for some honest opinions from people who have some time in on both.

If the 611s were noticeably. better I would have gotten them because Mcintosh trade in was really nice back then. For all I know it still is. I brought my favorite CDs and the dealer had the MCT450 and D1100(my setup) in the mix. Bottom line the 611s are great sounding amps. So are the 601s.
