At my first house, I had a stacked pair of Finco FM-5 antennae atop a Rhone tower. When we moved, a friend and I made like King Kong, climbed the tower and took out the rotor and left the antennae, which I regret since the FM-5 is no longer made.

Presently I am using the Winegard HD-6055P and a Hy-Gain TailTwister T2X rotator.

If there is a better FM antenna, I would be interested in upgrading. Suggestions???

Does anybody have construction plans for building their own antenna?

What is your experience with antennas mounted in an attic vs. outdoors?
Ourdoors is better and higher is better. That said, I have a pair of yagi 6-element antennae in parallel in my attic crawl space (my lot is covered with 50'+ tall oaks that like to drop limbs). No problem reaching to Philadelphia (about 55mi to the broadcast antennnae) and the surrounding areas. FM-specific yagi from Winegard or ChannelMaster or whomever is far and away the best. 1/2 wave dipole is next and you are likely better off with a pair of rabbit ears then those Magnum Dynalab and Fanfare whip attennae. You can learn a bit about antennae here: Tuner Information Center - Paul's Antenna Attic

I am currently using the Godar DXR-1000. I was reluctant to make this purchase at first, since I did not get good results with a previous Godar Indoor Antenna. But the price was very convenient , and was delivered right to my door. Also the Ad stated " Beats Magnum Dynalab" , ...bold statement indeed ! Well, I have to say this antenna is superior to any other I have tried before.
About this " Outdoor rules " dilemma... it came as such a big surprise to me that I am getting the best results with the DXR-1000 installed indoors, right on the wall behind my Stereo system. For the first time in my life I am finally enjoying full stereo reception, 100% signal strength in every Station I can think about.

The antenna performance specialties website is down and the domain is for sale.

Blonder Tongue doesn't seem to have dedicated fm antennas, Winegard has the 6055.

FM is clearly going down the tubes.

I had a roof antenna before when I could get to the roof easily, but I'm using whip antenna once again. I loved having the roof antenna and I really enjoyed setting it up. It was cheap and very good quality. The stations came in very well. These days, I'm contemplating getting a Magnum Dynalab internet radio tuner. That would be more useful than my modded Pioneer where I live.

I hope not, lots of people still listen.

I enjoy trying to find the stations on the fringe, or the little stations broadcasting classical.

Every Sunday morning I search for a station, then get my coffee, and listen before the rest of the house gets up.

Mine's a rotored Winegard HD6055P five feet above the roof line at the north end of my house, which at 500' is about 300' above the Willamette Valley floor.

Despite an intervening mountain I get a jazz station ~70 air miles away in one direction and a classical station and a community college station ~40 miles away in the opposite direction, all with fully-separated, no-hash stereo on my McIntosh MR77.
