Default Riddle me this…

I had everything in my system unplugged since Thursday for a long weekend at the lake. This morning, I plugged everything in and turned on my DAC, my preamp and both amps. After the tube warm up on the C2300 preamp, I heard music for about 1 second. The strangest thing since no sources were even turned on!

The input of the preamp is set to my Schiit Gumby, which is connected to my PC. The PC was turned off as was the NAS that feeds it. The only place it could have come from is the DAC or the JLAudio C1 crossover. So weird!

Are your cables shielded? Years ago I lived 3 miles from a fairly large Highway and got CB burn thru. All that noise stopped after I shielded my wires. Shortwave Radio signal also causes burn thru.

Yup, all cables are shielded, balanced cables. This was not RFI; this was definitely the quality of a true source.

Was it a familiar title? Since you said it was only about a second, is it possible that your DAC has a digital buffer with non-volatile memory? I don't know, just a thought.

Exactly my initial thoughts, Bill.

...and no, I didn’t pick up on which song it might have been.
