Default SP-3 USB Upgrade

Hi Folks,

We are getting close to offering a USB upgrade for the SP3 to allow for higher 192/24 bit resolution and looking at DSD capability as well.

Will keep you updated as to the mechanics of replacing the current USB input.

So the 192/24 choice, would that be the limit due to the DACs? What does the SP3 operate at internally in the digital domain, 96/24 or 192/24?

So currently different inputs have different limits? Guessing today HDMI and AES are 192/24, toslink and USB are 96/24. Would coax be the same as AES? These are only guesses, what are the actual limits?

Hi

Correct - all the SPDIF inputs are 192/24 capable. The USB was limited to 48/24.

If I own the BDP-2, is this important to me? Will the USB upgrade be stereo only?

Why not multi-channel, the SP3 is after all a multi-channel unit, that's what is was designed for.
