Both the Magico and the Vivid are superior to the Wilson. It would be a mistake going with the Alexia without hearing it first.

Be careful, dude... This is the Wilson forum! You're outnumbered ;-)

And we are so many enjoying this «mistake».
Please, Marsalis, get serious. It may be different but in this price range and without many years of experience, Magico and Vivid cannot be «superior».
I really don't understand the need to diminish a brand in order to prefer another one.

At this level, I don't think one loudspeaker is superior to another. It really comes down to personal preference. I do agree that it is very important to audition any speaker that is being seriously considered for purchase.

Best,
Ken

I do.

I know that this is the populist/egalitarian sentiment, but I disagree with it. That doesn't mean that I'm right by the way, it just means that I disagree.

Just as strawberry and pistachio are superior to chocolate. Or not.

It's always a good idea to audition first. That said, the Alexia is so extraordinarily good, in its case I might make an exception. But then, I've had the benefit of hearing it.

How can you disagree? If you were right, everyone would have the same speakers!

I am from the camp that Wilson, Magico, and vivid are all great speakers. They all sound different. I would want to hear the Alexia but am comfortable buying without doing so because I know they will be better than my Sasha 1's. The Magico is loads of detail and clarity. I'm not going to bash them. The vivid is a huge sound stage and very pleasing sound. Again no bashing. My Sasha's are kind of a combination of detail and dynamics. From what I'm told the Alexia are all about scale, better tweeter, dynamics, and more of a disappearing act when installed properly. Trying to get someone a good taste of XLF in a smaller footprint and for less money. I think audiophiles tend to get use to a certain sound. I bet if I went with Magico I would think other speakers sounded somewhat colored after a while. When I went from Proac to Wilson I thought I was getting a neutral speaker. The Magico's are even more neutral. Again, it depends what people are looking for. I tend to prefer the Wilson sound because I have had them for 6 to 7 years.

Your supposition assumes everyone has the same abilities. Again, the egalitarian viewpoint. It is fiction.

While I understand your point, I think it's a slippery slope. Flatter frequency response? Sure. But that, in and of itself, does not define neutrality.

The Alexias are more dynamic than any Magico I've heard. So which speaker is more "dynamically neutral?" The Alexia's crossover is better realized than any Magico I've ever heard. So which speaker is more "continuity neutral?"

I could go on...but the point is that, in my opinion, there are too many variables in the neutrality sweepstakes to make an overarching claim like that.
