The trip from...
Warning Long rambling vent here...
Left PA before sunrise on November 3, picked up a buddy in NJ and we headed south on the NJ turnpike. Great weather, great conversations and lighter than expected traffic down 95 all the way to Fayetteville NC where we stopped for gas. 13 gallons into the tank and off we went on our final leg and to Myrtle Beach for some golf with other former Shanghai buddies. But, within a half-mile from the gas station, the car started misfiring and throws a CEL. Pull into a rest area within a mile. Car smells awful and is running poorly. Checked what we could check, and decided we needed to find a Ford dealer - our minds were still on getting to MB that evening. Get to Lafayette Ford where they check the engine codes and almost every cylinder showed misfires. Crap. "Bad gas" I blurt out. Too late in the day for a tech to look at it. We rented a car, leaving my truck there, and we drive on the MB. Lots of drinking that night upon arrival followed by golf. Friday phone call from dealer confirms fuel contamination and a $1,100 estimated repair bill. And a Tuesday target for repair since they have to order parts from Ford and Ford doesn't deliver on Monday's (wtf?). Well, more drinking, more golf, drinking etc. with a few cigars and lots of catching up and reminiscing stories from life in China. I stay an extra night in MB and drive to Fayetteville today. Turn in my rental car and go to the dealer. Good news, parts came in and it should be fixed by 3:00. Cool. 3:30 sorry sir but your number 2 cylinder fuel injector is bad and dumps fuel at higher acceleration causing that cylinder to misfire. "No we don't have one in stock nor can we find one near Fayetteville (wtf?). It is ordered and coming from Virginia "we SHOULD get it tomorrow"!!! (wtf?). So I am now at a Ruby Tuesday's before re retiring to my hotel for yet another wasted evening on the road. Couldn't vote, couldn't help my wife prepare for our daughters bridal shower this weekend and will be about $1700 lighter when I leave here plus the $330 for the rental car and $200 for hotels and meals. I am not a pleasant person to be around now. Hoping my insurance company goes after the gas station. I have witnesses and a sample from my tank... Damnit!

Craig.......Gees, if it wasn't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all. Was it a major gas station or a two pump mom and pop gas station? Obviously there will be other pissed off people who are experiencing the same issues. Hope tomorrow you are on the road home.

Sorry for your troubles, Craig.
If you paid with a debit or credit card you have the name of the station on it, right? That would be your first lead to finding the owners of the station. You'll also need your repair documentation from the dealer and a test report of the sample you have to make a case. Good luck bud.
