Well I did listen to the new MC2301's late into the night last night and they keep sounding better and better. They are not even a day old and you guys have got me thinking about upgrading the tubes already. At least there are only 20 of them and not the 22 my MC275 monos took, just twice as many KT88's the more expensive ones.
Since the MC2301's are keepers I am going to sell my MC601's for lack of room for both amps.

Paul.......Don't forget to update your signature.
 If and when you decide to put Gold Lion KT88's in your MC2301's, don't forget about Bob (Vintage Tube). He is Audio Aficionado's tube vendor and will offer you excellent pricing and service. Send him a PM when your ready. Also, the tubes that are in the MC2301 amplifiers are McIntosh labeled JJ Tubes. They are not bad tubes by any stretch, so give them some time. Swapping the two driver tubes (12AT7) in each amp impacts the sound quite a bit, so if you want to play with tube rolling you may want to begin there.

Better pictures in the daylight. I do like the look with the tube covers on. With the MC275's I liked the look better with the tube covers off.

Paul, congratulations! The 2301s definitely have taken my listening to a new level. With the Strads you've got a combination you can enjoy for a very, very, long time.
Oh, and call it break in or not break in - you did the right thing listening 'out of the box'.
