Default Mcintosh vs Leben??

I've recently been reading alot about Leben gear and had the crazyest thought about selling my McIntosh C2300 for one of their integrateds or possibly their separate Pre.

How would this Leben gear pair up with my C2300?

Dumb idea?

Erik

Wouldn't an integrated be a step backwards from separates?

If the rest of the electronics are also McIntosh, swapping in a non-McIntosh preamplifier is the last thing I would ever think of doing, frankly.

Erik.......I believe you would better served and have your curiosity satisfied by purchasing a Leben integrated amplifier to play with, perhaps the CS600. You can always sell it should you decide to let it go.

No S/N spec?

I've been generally familiar with Leben for some time now, however I tend toward suspicion when only partial specs provided. Output specified for a single frequency rather than for the audible band and distortion provided for 1/3 output isn't confidence inspiring either. With McIntosh, I know what I'm getting.

Maybe it sounds great - I don't know. Interested in hearing the OP's review if he decides to go for it. I would think the speakers should be moderate to high sensitivity to work well with the Leben CS600 integrated.

I know with tube amps specs don't always tell the whole story but that is odd, and not reassuring.

Dan,

Thanks for the suggestion! After thinking about this some more, I will most likely keep my C2300 as it is a great piece of equipment.

I still would like to learn more about Leben and can see adding a piece of as a second system.

Why do you suggest the CS600 over the CS300?

Erik

Erik.......Primarily because the CS600 has more output power and is rated 32W per channel with 6L6GC output tubes, and 28W per channel with EL34 output tubes. The CS300 is rated at 12 watts per channel.

Leben CS300

Psst: Get the CS300XS, higher wattage and better parts. I used to have one (souped up too) but ... thats another sad story. Its a great amp. Someday, when I am better off, I might just collect one set (with the matching RS30EQ Phono Stage).

Here I am in another very old topic, but of my interest!
I was playing with a Mcintosh C2300 + Mc 275MkV, recently I bought a Reymio Cat777 and an Airtight ATM300, in my opinion, they are two very different worlds, the Cat 777 plays very well Mc275, but does not overcome marriage with Mc2300, if the allow pocket, I will continue with the two sets!
