Default Spikes for 803 series

Hi,

My friend has a pair of 803 that are about 5 years old. They do not have any feet or spikes on them. Did the original 803's come with spikes? What do you recommend he use to spike them to the floor (carpet over concrete)?

Thanks in advance for any help here.

Dave

Just for reference, Dave, my N802s from 1999, or so, didn't come with spikes, either...they have rollers. I'll leave the recs for the more experienced.

My 802D's did not come with spikes but B&W would supply one pair for that serial number free of charge if requested. The were great spikes.

They've got a good website: B&W Group North America Service & Support Homepage.

Parts can be found there. I use spikes on my 803Ds, purchased in '08 (spikes came with them).

Default Thanks!

I appreciate all the very useful responses and the link to the websites. It is a little surprising that a high quality speaker like B&W would not come with spikes or even rubber feet. Sounds like maybe they changed that in the later models.

Regards,

Dave

Dave, they definitely did change that. My 802Ds have built-in quality castors that can be used permanently on some surfaces (nothing like the cheap castors Wilson uses - not disparaging Wilson here at all - Wilson only uses them as positioning expedients, to be put away once they've positioned the speakers. The 802D's plinth facilitates a different approach). They also of course, have spikes that can be swapped in. My experience with B&W only goes back to the first half of '08.
