Hi all,

Thanks for the warmth welcoming.

With Bryston pre-power amplification, i heard PB1i rocking away. Definitely my cup of tea but i am not ready to change my amplifier. As my staple is mainly rock music and do play relatively loud(93 to 96db - estimated), hence my concern of bass control, so on and so forth.

Best wishes

nice to see so many PMC owners in one place, no one know who they are where i live.

I hope all i am reading about the performance of the ob1i's is 100% accurate or better still understated as i also have a set on the way.

Hi - first post here.

I've had a set of PMC OB1 speakers for about a year now - got a good deal on a used pair, and then matched them with a brand-new CB6i centre channel. Man, they were a big improvement over the previous Linn ninka speakers I had.

Right now, I'm bi-amping the OB1's with four channels of a Linn 5125 5-channel amp (5x125W at 8 ohms), and am using the fifth channel for the centre. So far, it sounds pretty good - no lack of dynamic expression.

Two things I'd be curious about, both related to this thread...
1. For those that have done it, what sonic improvements did you get when you moved (if you've moved) to a bigger amp - like a Bryston 4B (or 6B three-channel version)?

2. What sub(s) have you found that work well with the OB1(i)? Right now, my Sizmik 10.25 doesn't really go much deeper than the main speakers - even though it nicely fills out the bottom octave. I'm guessing the standard Velodyne/JL audio products will match, but has anyone tried REL or other versions?

Many thanks,
JBC

Welcome jbc.....having owned every PMC model from the DB1i to the IB2i the bigger amp will really get the woofer working correctly with a significant jump in dynamics. PMC are fairly easy to run but do come into thier own with some good power......The 4BSST is a very good pairing with the OB1i......As to subs I'm really not the one to answer as my primary focus is two channel with my preferences leaning to using no sub.....You will find people in both camps so its a YMMV thing. Happy Listening

jbc.......Welcome to Audio Aficionado.

I own a pair of PMC EB1i speakers. They sound fantastic and go deep in the bass region, but I still run a JL Audio Fathom f113 subwoofer with them. I have the sub set to support the frequency range under 38 Hz, and lightly blended into the EB1i's. It is perfect. It adds a slightly fuller texture to the very bottom octave, and also helps reinforce the bass at low listening levels. I can recommend the JL Audio Fathom f113 without reservation.

WOW!!! That is a serious study system...

I've owned a few PMC speakers and the OB's were my favorite in my room.

Enjoy
