Your speakers are truly special Dan, and the room is fantastic. In the "Money no object..." thread I said if money were no object the "equipment" I would buy would be a dedicated listening room - yours would be a great model to base it on.

By the way, I used to think the same thing about the metal parts on the Futuras until I saw them in graphite.

This month represents five years since I purchased the Sonus faber Amati Anniversario speakers and installed them in the studio system. I can say without reservation, I love these speakers as much today as I did in the beginning, maybe more. I eventually performed the Sumiko Master speaker setup with the Amati Anniversario's to my complete satisfaction and have been thoroughly enjoying every minute I sit in the sweet spot. These speakers are masters at disappearing, developing a wide and deep soundstage that delivers amazing holographic imaging.

The gear has seen some changes during the past five years. Vinyl playback was added to the studio with the Michell Gyro SE/SME309/Ortofon Cadenza Black rig. The C2300 preamplifier was relocated to the living room system and the C1000C/P was introduced to the studio. The MR74 tuner was replaced with the MR88, the MCD1100 was replaced with the Esoteric K-03, the MC452 was replaced with a pair of MC601's that were then replaced with a pair of MC2301 tube power amplifiers. The PS Audio Power Plant Premier was replaced with the PurePower2000 AC regenerator/battery backup, and an Olive 04HD music server was added to the system. In addition, the Kimber 8TC speaker cables were changed to Wireworld Silver Eclipse speaker cables. The acoustic properties of the room were adjusted with the addition of Vicoustic Wavewood panels on the wall behind my listening position and a single Wavewood panel behind each of the two audio racks.

The studio sound system is truly capable of astonishingly realistic musical reproduction at any volume level I am in the mood to enjoy. The dedicated, sound isolated and acoustically treated room allows me full use of the room day or night no matter the time without ever disturbing Marlene. That is such a wonderful feature, freedom to use the system as I please at any time and any volume.

The Sonus faber Amati Anniversario speakers are true audio jewels, so musical, so beautiful, so satisfying. The premium McIntosh components driving them are a perfect match. Even after five years of almost daily use I cannot imagine ever parting with these fabulous beauties. Below is a photo of the studio system as it is today.

Esteban.......Thank you. I know how difficult it is to incorporate acoustic treatments into shared living spaces. With a dedicated space those restrictions are lifted.
