As I was not quoting anyone, hence assumed replying to OP. But pretty sure those Platz will do you good too! |

And sorry I kind of high-jacked the OP's thread, but I thought it silly to start another identical thread on the subject. |

I have a question. I am looking for WW Platinum but I have to choose the length. I don't have any problem with .3m.
I read the sound is not the same depending of the length. Shorter = faster, better dynamic and better details but less soundstage (hall ambiance). Illusion because shorter lost less energy and we got attention better to all the transiant ? In audio in general, when I get more precision the sound is always tinner in the bass region and it's a bit less transparent. What you think and suggest me as length ? |

That cable is so expensive that you might want to try to go as short as possible, but after some suggestions from Michael Ritter (Berkeley Audio) and a poor experience with a 0.5m silver cable I would suggest ~1.5-2.0m. Recently, I purchased the Oyaide Continental 5S in 1.3m.

Anything at 1M or less will be identical.
Anything 2-5M you may (I stress may) have an audible difference. This would be negated by using a high quality USB cable. Nothing over 15ft. You will have potential signal loss (as in, zero signal) at that (or larger) length.

My 2M Ultraviolet sounds perfectly fine.
I've never heard of a shorter cable (of any kind) sounding "faster" or "dynamic" vs a longer cable, no matter what the cable or application is. |

By definition, USB is limited to 5m.

BTW don't listen to the bit-is-bits crowd. USB Audio cannot resend packets if there is an error. Also don't forget that USB is also a noisy 5v power cable running parallel to the signal wires. There is also the possibility of digital reflections that could occur at about the same time as the 0v detection threshold for each packet resulting in jitter. That's the reasoning with the 1.5-2.0m length. The Oyaide has a shielded signal pairs, a shielded power pair, and a shield over the entire loom. They also use brass connector bodies that shield and are strong. That's also what I love about WireWorld since they try to keep the signal and power lines from interacting.
For value, I'd look at the Belkin Gold for about $7. Amazon also has a 6" cable for cheap that you could try if that length would work for you. Last edited by junker; 08-28-2013 at 07:00 PM. |

Ya know it might be worth trying out 2 different lengths from The Cable Co library to compare for yourself. They will apply the credit toward purchase.
