I like the C-2420 because it has bass and treble controls. They come in helpful at times when choosing less than stellar recordings, imo.

Ivan and Marcos, I have mentioned that the C-3800 pre might be updated because C-3800 was introduced in june/july 2010, and typically Accuphase updates its top-of the line units after 5 - 5.5 years (rarely 6 as far as I know). However, I might be a bit paranoid here as Accuphase has updated the A-65 power amp 8 months after I have bought it. For all I now Ivan, your information might be 100% correct. Not only Accuphase does not like to surprise their dealers with things like this, but there still is some distance between C-2820 and C-3800 from a technological point of view. Therefore, Accuphase might not feel the need to update the C-3800 pre, especially since it is an anniversary edition.
Quote:
Dave, the loudness compensator button on both C-2820 and C-3800 act pretty much like a bass control button. The bass and treble controls on the C-2420 might offer a bit more flexibility, but at this levels one should not abuse these buttons. Last edited by nvp; 12-12-2014 at 08:15 PM. |

Ok, that's cool, and no I wouldn't abuse the buttons or dials, I would use them judiciously. Also, I can't really afford those 2. I'm already taking a hit with the C-2420!

Dave, be sure that I was not in position to afford any of the top two models as well but, on the other hand, I'm sure I'll regret for the rest of my life if I do not do everything to grab the opportunity to pay Japanese local market price on any of them.

Thanks Ivan. If I don't fall in love for it, I'll be really sad.
However, based on the comments and reviews that I've read written by Japanese users of the C-3800 I'm confident there will be no regret. Last edited by Marcossy; 12-18-2014 at 07:04 AM. |
