According to the press release from TAS it's $60k. What HiFi is showing 60k pounds.

Cheers,

Scott

I believe this is the model I heard at RMAF this year. The bass was one of their best qualities.

Looks like a step backwards to me. What made the XRT 30/28 and Xr290 was especially with the 290 was everything was a line array down to the upper woofer frequencies. . And what's with the extra wide dispersion that makes the speaker more of a point source compromised crossover with a line array. You want the clarity compromised by delayed signals bouncing of side walls. Concentrate the sound at the listing area is the idea of a line array reducing compromising reflections. Thats not the case here for sure. If you are sitting 60 degrees off the opposite speaker the difference in listening distance between the speakers isn't going to allow for good staging anyway. They may be able to control dispersion but they can't make up for very differing arrival times. And yes small woofers handle the same power has big ones but they have to travel many times the distance creating FM distortion. Lets see 4 6.5's are equal to two 12's. Might as well have an XRT22. At least the tweeters aren't blocking the woofers and low mids.

Few comments.
The picture of the speakers in the manual is incorrect.
Could a 400x3 amp be on the way?

"Lets see 4 6.5's are equal to two 12's."

In my opinion this is incorrect. And then there is the question of how much excursion you can get out of a 6.5. This is the size of a midrange. How much coupling (air movement) can one actually get from a 6.5 inch driver. I'm not doubting Mac but I just don't understand. Could someone explain? For example I don't think 15 one inch cone tweeters equal one 15 inch woofer. My thought is that 2 6.5's equal about 1 eight inch woofer so you actually have the equivalent of 2 8's at best plus the port output. How do you obtain 16 Hz from this? Reading from the website Mac says it's possible.

Getting 18hz out of the speakers is either wishful thinking on McIntosh’s part or they are down 18-24db @ 18hz.

You can definitely get a enormous amount of bass out of a small driver. I recently attended a demo of the special edition Sonus Faber Electa Amator III and you would not believe the bass generated by its ~7" woofer. Stunning.
