Default MSB Discrete DAC

I'd be interested to hear some opinions on the new MSB Discrete DAC with the streaming module:
http://www.msbtechnology.com/dacs/di...-dac-features/

I am auditioning one for the next few days. The only other DAC/streamer I've listened to recently is my Lumin D2. The MSB does sound quite nice and I do prefer it over the D2, but it is 4x the price. Its pretty new and I really cant find any reviews. I am not experienced enough to do a review. Both the D2 and MSB are burnt in.

I have the D2 also and was thinking about the Discrete with streamer module. Any further thoughts after your home demo? What's the rest of your system?

Sorry I didn't answer sooner, I just saw this.
I ended up buying the Discrete and a second power supply. The rest of my system is : Moon 740P Pre, Mac MC462 amp, B&W 802 D3, AQ Earth from pre to amp, Stealth MetaCarbon Discrete to Pre

The system keeps sounding better and better, I really like the Discrete and will probably end up with the Premiere some day.

Please describe the Discrete's sound. I'm going to replace my Chord Dave and the Esoteric D-05X and MSB Discrete DAC are two DACs that I would like to compare to my Dave.

Hello MintakaX,

I am an audiophile in Hong Kong.
Have been using MSB as digital front-ends for more than 5 years.
I am now considering to upgrade my UMT Plus transport to either Reference Transport or Select Transport.

I would like to seek your help.
I heard some audiophiles said that the above-mentioned two new transports differed only in the chassis and footers. They are internally identical.
However another audiophile insists that MSB tests and selects the best 5% of internal components to build their Select Series.

Would you please ask your MSB dealer about this issue?

Many thanks for your kind help in advance!

Hi,
I planned my digital front end road thru totaldac.
I started with the d1 server and i m very pleased.
My logic choice( for sq and finance) is the totaldac tube mk2 dac, but have the discrete or the premiere in my radar.
I would love to hear some users comparaisons or advices.
Thks

Despite having some high end equipment over the years, I have never really been good at describing the sound of equipment, so please forgive any improper use of terminology. Also be aware that my current system is very new and just reaching the break in stage (I'm still hearing daily improvements). I can only compare the sound of the Discrete to the Lumin D2 as it currently manifests in my system.
The Discrete is more spacious, more transparent, fuller and more liquid sounding. I think warm chocolate syrup. I feel like another pair of the same DACs (as exists in the Premiere) will just add to this.

Oh, by the way, the Lumin D2 sounds great as well. I easily could have lived with it. Such is the expensive road of music reproduction.

Hello ! I don't know the answers to those questions and rather than be the middle man between you and my dealer, why don't you just fire off an email to suncoast audio, they are an MSB dealer and I'm sure they would be happy to answer your questions.

Dealer said Vince told him they are the same sonically. The 3D chassis takes a long time.
