Thanks guys, I think it makes perfect sense to wait a little. I am indeed changing quite a lot. Still interested in hearing people’s impressions of the DACs/Streamers mentioned above.

Thank you!

Killergurt-

Another vote for settling in with the C1100 for the time being. There's more appreciation for each change when done one by one.

As far as the DAC goes, while never having done a comparison of the D1100 and your PS Audio (actually never listened to either), seems like the sound would be similar or a "lateral" move as one fellow stated. The PS Audio has a great track record of upgrades via firmware and lots of supported features with the Bridge. It's entire focus is also as a DAC without preamplifier circuitry. True, the D 1100 will be "Mc Voiced" but a different DAC voicing can be very complementary.

As far as the Bryston combination you mentioned, I purchased a BDP3 in August and a BDA3 a month later. Very happy with both. Truthfully though, going to the BDA3 from your current DAC might be a step back. However, the BDP3 player should be on your short list. I did a thread on the Bryston page as to why it was the best fit for me.

There are many great choices out there and the only thing tougher than going wrong is making a decision. Settle in with the C1100, keep your DAC and consider a player without a built in DAC.

Ok, so I have made my decision: I got the D1100 and I have an Auralic G1 Streamer arriving tomorrow. I will do so,e testing and report back. So far, my system with the new C1100 and the new Focals is sounding incredible.

Fantastic combo! The D1100 and the Auralic sound magical together. I have sent the G1 back and got the G2 instead. The G1 is fantastic but I wanted the extra SQ that comes with the G2, as well as the possible future upgrade path, should I ever choose to. I connected it to the D1100 through a WW Platinum USB cable.

The Auralic Aries is an extremely capable streamer-bridge and it sounds incredible. I am very surprised that there aren't more people using and discussing it on this forum. It is highly recommended to anyone who wants to introduce a streamer bridge to their system.

Roy, glad its working out for you.

I'm interested if you were able to compare the D1100 to the DirectStream DAC w/Bridge II and can offer any feedback.

Hey Ron,

At the risk of upsetting some people (J/K) I find the D1100's sound fuller, richer, more detailed. When I had the DS DAC I enjoyed it tremendously, it's only now that I am able to listen to the same tracks and compare. The D1100 sounds layered and complex and has big sound.

So you were able to compare both on your new system?

Ron

Yes, I had them both connected simultaneously for two days.

That's great, I was hoping you still had the DirectStream for comparison.

Others have also reported the characterstic full sound and large soundstage with the D1100. Glad the detail is also still there.

That's awesome.
