Default Cleaning old pioneer elite rear projection tv's

I was able to find an internet blog that described how to take off the protection screen and clean between it and the inner screen.
If you gently remove the top horizontal trim directly next to the outer screen there are some screws that can taken off so that the outer screen moves outward enough to clean with a very soft damp rag all the dust etc that has gathered between the 2 screens. if this has never been done you will not believe the difference it makes.

I have a 60 inch kuru plasma and the old box is still very competitive and fun to watch. Maybe a little more forgiving. I have had both ISF calibrated. Which I heartily recommend to all if you can find someone that owns the full kit of gear it takes to do it right. Terry paulin of San Ramon ca has done a great job for me on several tvs and might be able to recommend someone near you.

-----The Pioneer Elite rear projection TVs were always the nicest looking ones.

I have an Hitachi (rear projection LCD) from 2005-2006; a very nice looking TV (looks like a flat plasma screen). Only 50", but was $3,300 back then (MSRP). ..And only 720p.

But compared to today's HDTVs; even at three times less money (MSRP), and a 60" plasma screen (1080p, 3D, etc.), it is simply an abomination!

I'm sure your fiancee's Pioneer Elite Pro TV looks very good (2002 era), better than my Hitachi one, but why simply not get a 65" Panasonic or Samsung 3D plasma? It would cost her only between a thousand to two thousands, and the picture quality and features are just out of this world compared to what she have right now. I honestly think.

* Was it a present from you?

I had a Pro-610 and my parents had a Pro-620 that were enjoyed for many years, and they really were reference quality for their time. Doing the lens alignment and cleaning on an annual basis is well worth the effort on those sets!

As i stated above i have a 60 inch kuru pioneer which is the top of the heap plasma wise. the 58 inch rear projection is extremely competitive once it has been calibrated. Main diff is the plasma is brighter and has wider off axis viewing. if you are directly in front of the rear pro and have room lighting correct those positives are mitigated. set is not an abomination. cheers

Who's Terry Paulin? Does he own or work for a business in San Ramon? Did he calibrate your Kuro?
Thanks.

Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't talking about your girlfriend's Pioneer TV, but 'bout my Hitachi one being the abomination. You can clearly see it in my post; I was precise about it.

Cheers
