When I'm rolling in the dough, I'll splurge for a Davidoff Anniversario, but in these economic times I tend to look for bargains such as Rocky Patel R4s & Connecticuts, Oliva Vs, Trinidads and CAO Blacks.

As far as libations go, I stick to Lagavulin.

I've never tried that particular Cohiba, but the Hennessy is fantastic.

I don’t have a set pairing and it depends on the smoke and what I feel like. Some of my favorites are: Montecristo petit Edmundo’s, No. 2; Bolivar Gold Medals; Cohiba Siglo’s; and CAO Vision. The last being the only non-Cuban. As for libations other than the fine Cognac mentioned above, I’ve been known to quaff some of the Islay whiskies, particularly a nice 16year Lagavulin or perhaps a nice 1990 Arbeg Airigh nam Beist.

Yeah I sorta screwed that one up but just fixed it...

I'd take a Sassicaia over an Opus any day - and usually cheaper, too!

You want serious CA cab go for Diamond Creek, Lokoya, SHS, Dominus (ohhhh Dominus)... On the other side of the Hill you've got Paul Hobbs (though gets most of his juice from Napa), and Verite.

I'm a rum fan too. If you get a chance try Pyrat rum. They have the standard, the XO, the XO Reserve and the uber expensive Pyrat Cask 1623. FWIW, it's made by the Patron people, who make a fine tequila as well.

Also, Mount Gay rum from Barbados, is a mighty fine spirit too. A bit o' trivia, it's the worlds oldest rum. Arrr matey, to the plank with ye.

Yes, a friend once brought me a bottle of the Mount Gay Anejo. Very impressive, indeed.

Pyrat is also a fun rum, tons of flavor!
