I on occasion get a small much quieter pop on DOP. The major frightenly loud pops happen with Native DSD.
Please contact McIntosh with your concerns. The more persons do so might just make them consider getting the 3rd party driver developer to fix it. Last edited by Dr Tone; 04-22-2017 at 09:38 PM. |

Yes, the DoP pop is definitely quieter. BTW, what are you listening to in DSD256?

HQPlayer & Roon upsampling, no original content.

I must say, there are a LOT of these threads as of late. It would seem McIntosh has a problem here at which resolution is long overdue.

Ron got back to me and said it's an artifact from DSD file switching using Jriver and the ESS dac chip. The pop is the dac leaving DSD mode which is why they suggest using pause. Sounds like no other fix will be offered.

Sounds better as well. Problem solved while I make up mind on planned DAC purchase. Maybe the Codex will be the end game as it isn't close to broke in yet. |

The Codex is a nice unit. I'm using a Schiit Yggdrasil atm which sounds great and is set and forget, which I appreciate all the more after my years with the D100. My C22 and MC275 6, on the other hand, have sounded magnificent and performed beautifully since Day 1. I'd buy them again in a second. |

If I didn't have a crap load and a half of DSD I would definately give the Yggy a whirl.
