Headphone Amp for Sennheiser HD 600

MCD301 has an excellent headphone amp.

I would think it is more than adequate to maximize the Sennheiser HD 600 potential.

BTW, I love your gear!

The 252 was always a favorite of mine.

Thomas.......I have used two different outboard headphone amplifiers with my Sennheiser HD600. The first was a HeadAmp Gilmore Lite solid state headphone amp. It is a Class A amp with outboard regulated power supply. The sound was clean, detailed and dynamic, with plenty of power to drive the HD600 to substantial volume levels. It is no longer being manufactured, but I see them from time to time being sold for around $250.00.






The headphone amplifier I presently use is the Musical Fidelity X-CAN V8P. It is also a Class A amplifier but is a tube based design. The X-CAN V8P is a wonderful sounding headphone amplifier with a very well textured presentation. It also provides plenty of power for whatever volume you choose to enjoy. The Musical Fidelity X-CAN V8P is no longer being manufactured, but I see them occasionally for around $400.00. It has both line level inputs and a USB input, selectable from a front panel switch.

My vote is the MF V8. It's very good with the HD600

Record108.......This is the newest Musical Fidelity M1HPA headphone amplifier and DAC. MusicDirect sells it for $799.00. It is a pure Class-A design solid state design. Sam Tellig of Stereophile gave the M1HPA Class A rated Component, October 2011.

The HPA is not as good as the V8 IMO. I have both.

Thanks, Dan! Did you listen to it? Since it is pure solid state, the sound must differ from the V8P, I think.
