I bought a pair of Ref 210 a week ago that need to be retubed. With the price of Winged 6550's sky high, I might as well make the jump to the KT120. After this mod, will I be able to switch back to the 6550/KT88 if I want to? AFAIK, Tung Sol is the only brand of KT120 right now.

I am also a proud ref 210 owner with 6550s ending their lifetime and would like to know if there are any modifications necessary on ref 210 before tubing them with kt120s.

there is much nice discussion going on over here but still the mystery remains.

ok problem solved. talked with kalvin and he said kt120 support for ref 2100 is no longer available so I need to stick with a new set of 6550s.

I had the same answer that modification of 610T is no longer possible to use with kt-120.

Seems it is more than just rumor. They are listed as NOS for a while.

I only said "rumor" because I never received an official notice or press release. As a reviewer, I personally try not to spread unconfirmed info.

Even that doesn't work all the time. Many years ago wrote about how MOFI was discontinuing their inner sleeves--which they were at the time--only to see them reverse their decision and continue making them. Now that was a good move!

Does anyone know or recently got new tubes from ARC to replace 6550 based power amps, which brand/tube they send? Is that SED Winged C or Svetlana 6550c or another if any? I have SED 6550 winged c on my Ref 610Ts I wonder what ARC will send me to replace?
