"The SP-10R is slated for launch in 'early summer 2018'. It succeeds 1975's SP10MK2 and 1981's SP-10MK3 as Technics contribution to the world of turntables aimed at professional broadcasters. A matching tonearm 'and other components' will also be made available.
Pricing has not been announced but I'll tell you this: you will wince when you see it". Best Sir, Bob

It certainly has the SP-10 looks to it. I thought I remember reading that the new SL1200 approaches the same performance of the SP-10 of yesteryear. I really doubt it's truly being aimed at the broadcast market, how many stations, aside from college stations, are playing LPs these days?

Going by specs alone; this could be among the world's best TTs on paper. Execution is another thing, of course.
I don't see how it could be appreciably better than a modded SP10 Mk. II or Mk. III which in my opinion, can easily hold its own against anything (even the TechDAS AF1). Either way, it shows great confidence in the vinyl resurgence and in the technological improvements made since the SP10 MK. III. If nothing else; it will give lots of people a chance to score a MK. III as they are upgraded to the newer SP10-R! Very excited and looking forward to this great DD monster! |

Here's Technics brochure for the SL-1000R (complete table w/arm & controller; approx. $20K) and the SP-10R (table/controller - no arm; approx. $10K). Headshell/cartridge not included.
Add the necessary http://www. technics.com/download/brochures/us/SL1000R_SP10R_US_Print.pdf Best Sirs, Bob
