I have a Sonictransporter i5 and my music is stored on a Synology NAS. If it were on an internal drive it might pull a little faster. If I were building again I would consider the i7 but not so sure I would opt for a internal drive.

Thanks for the feedback.

All my stuff is backed up to One Drive in the cloud and that works well for me.

I’ve gotten JRiver and Audirvana Plus to send music to the Bridge II before but Audirvana seems to be a bit iffy about sending MQA to the Bridge II.

And JRiver doesn’t support TIDAL or MQA. AFAIK.

But IMHO JRiver And Audirvana sounds better than Roon.

I have the i7 but did not opt for internal storage. I pull from a Synology and have had no problems.

Thank for all the feedback guys! I reached out to my geeks for help on a router upgrade.

I think my best bet for now is sticking with mconnect on the Bridge II. It is not a great interface, but it’s pretty stable and Qobuz sounds terrific.

Any thoughts on Aurender? I am intrigued by their products, but I think I might hold off until PS releases their server.

...or maybe I’ll just get a new turntable!

I know there are several Aurender fans on this site but.............I had one and stopped using it as soon as I found Roon. For me a properly setup Room system was better sounding than the Aurender X100 which I had and it provides of vastly better UI in my opinion.

Then there is nothing wrong with buying a great turntable!!!

Are the Sonictransporter and Sonora two different Roon servers or do they work together?

The SonicTransporter is a dedicated computer designed to run Roon and a couple of other media server options like Logitech Media Server, Minimserver, and HQPlayer. So the Sonictransporter will deliver music to your endpoint or player at your hifi system. The Sonore Rendu products are players which are Roon Ready and can accept the music served from the SonicTransporter, and pass it to your DAC. This graphic from the SmallGreenComputer website may help.

Or Roon Core. I just ordered one. I came from Aurender N100C, so it’ll be interesting.

Or the Wyred 4 Sound server. That way you can use the I2S connection between the two instead of usb. Supposedly the best connection for the DS DAC.
