Dynophile,
A well-made decision to have both checked for peace of mind. You have a nice pair of Mc pieces that should last you for years after the checkup. Keep us updated on the results. I have owned both and sometimes miss my MC452, but to be honest, after 30 mins with the MC275 I get lost in the music and enjoy what I have. I still have my C2300. Maybe call McIntosh and see if there is an authorized service center in your area.

The problem is in the amp. But I'll go ahead and send both in for servicing. Now I just need to find a service that will pack and palletize this beast of an amp for freight shipping.

House of Music used to be alive and had an in house McServicer, but I think they went out of business last summer. Shucks.

At least with sending both back, you'll get true peace of mind that everything will be back to 100%.

Where are you sending it for service? With Mc's closure, they are not taking service pieces. At least that's what they told me about sending in my C45. They told me to hold onto it.

House of music is still in business, although temporarily closed (assuming because of COVID-19). Not sure they still have their in house service guy though.

In the Bay Area I have used these folks in the past. They did great work. A few years back they were doing service on behalf of McIntosh. You may want to check with them.

Thanks. As suggested, I went on the McIntosh website for local authorized service and found R&B Electronics. I checked out their website and see they offer service vehicles that can come to my home and pick up the Mc pieces. I plan to use their services.

Also, I visited House of Music a couple years ago and the lady mentioned their in house service guy retired.

Just an update. I received my McIntosh pieces repaired and all is good. The amp filter capacitors went bad and one was leaking. They replaced all four capacitors and wiped down the circuit board. They just did a maintenance checkup on the preamp and cleaned the pots. I'm glad to finally get my McIntosh back after nine months. The repair did not take that long. I was just caught up in the Covid lockdown and had to wait several long months before businesses were allowed to reopen again.
