On the W4S DAC2-SE....great discussion. I currently enjoy the regular DAC2 but now think it's time to send it in for the full upgrade.

I know this is reviving an old thread, but has anyone else done the SE upgrade? Additional impressions & feedback?

thanks

Ryan....welcome to AA!

I haven't heard of too many going in for the upgrade, but will be interested in hearing your impressions if you go for it!

I agree! I'm searching for a replacement for Melinda. I find she's so analog, and I figure if I get a modern version that I can program to my liking, then life will be far more....modern. I just can't find the right model....yet.

Seriously, though, there's a used DAC 2 that I've been eying. Right now I've been playing the daylights out of my little Loki DSD. I'm tempted to take the DAC 2 home and give it a spin, see what difference it makes just prior to the upgrade over both the Loki and the Bifrost.

John.......Try the DAC2 out. I am extremely pleased with the W4S DAC2's performance in my Sennheiser HD800 headphone rig. It's driving the Musical Fidelity X-Can V8P headphone amp from the digital output of an Oppo BDP-83 and a Sony Vaio laptop with JRiver Media Center 19. The DAC2 sounds seriously good.

Dan... I just checked and it's still available. I'll drop by their shop on Thursday and borrow it for home audition. I don't particularly like the looks of the W4S equipment, but folks do like their performance. It will be interesting to compare it to the much less expensive Schiit gear.
