Well, at least you will know what the issue is

I should be able to play with this tonight. I'll share my impressions when I have a chance.

Grasshopper, I just saw that you used a software named XLD to rip your CDs. Any recommendations on what to use for Windows? I don't use AIFF because my Onkyo can't read it so my preference is WAV.

Also, does specialized software make enough of a difference vs. say itunes?

dBpoweramp seems to be one of the favorites for windows. And YES 1000% yes, the bit perfect players add a TON vs. iTunes. It becomes much more apparent if you play higher resolution files. (This is coming from a former skeptic). Running a $15,000+ system driven by iTunes is like throwing crappy low octane gas in a performance car.

I think I recall you are running the B&W 802's...very revealing speakers. With those speakers, EVERYTHING matters (source files, transport, cables, DAC, preamp, amp, etc.).

In many cases it is seamless for me. In some cases it sounds too boxy in the center. I suspect I can also hear bad mixing as they are pretty revealing speakers.

What do you use to power your HTM?
I use part of my Bryston 6B-SST, use Oyide balanced interconnects and a single run of heavy copper to the Signature HTM. Everything but the front L&R and the sub is powered by Bryston.

BlueSky,

I appreciate your response. I am encouraged that you have integrated brand (Mcintosh/Bryston) amplification and experience a seamless integration in your system.

My feedback is way overdue on this post. For any who'd benefit, eliminating the bridge connection, and running out of one channel of the NAD amp at 150watts made a world of difference.

The center sings and doesn't call attention to itself. Someday I may upgrade the amp, but the last few years have given me more than enough enjoyment.

Thanks again to those who chimed in.
