Hi James,

This room correction paper is a great piece. Room correction algorithms have become the recent fad and I hope it ends up being a fad that goes away soon. It is true that correction under 300Hz can be beneficial, especially if you only have one sub and limited room placement options, but in my view the proper solution is really one or two or more subs properly placed.

Also, in my view, room correction is simply adding linear distortion. You want to bring the original performance into your room not a distorted version of it.

Cheers

Ian

Hi Folks,

It has been confirmed that Part 2 of the SP-3 review in Stereophile Magazine will be in the July issue.

James I am considering buying an SP3 and if the USB upgrade is offered is it going to be free or will there be a charge for current owners of the SP3.

Kal in your second issue would there be a comparison to the Classe SSP 800. I am trying to decide between the both and unfortunately neither of these units are available for an audition in home.

Hi

Not sure how we will handle that. It is still many months away.

James

I am now proud owner of SP3 000160. Manual was from February, but my 17 year old did basic config for me in about 5 minutes (he got speaker distance/xover point/gain from our Onkyo stand-in). We really like the straightforward menu structure and orthogonal function flexibility.

The initial impression from both of us – radically better speech intelligibility, way better dynamics, and much better imaging. All considered, a step function improvement over the Onkyo- 9B configuration.

Have a great long weekend.

Jim

MEMO: To All Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Dealer Feedback SP-3 Surround Processor

Subject: SP-3 DEMO

Hi James,

I just did a SP3 demo this morning, and the customer was nearly in tears.

It really moved him, he's got a 1.7 at the moment but he was totally blown away by the SP3, he made me smile though as to be able to afford it he is going to give up his daily Costa coffee, Buying lunch out every day and he has given up smoking.

So not only is the SP3 the best processor on the planet but it also helps saves lives :-)

Thanks,
Paul.

Default Bryston sp 3

In my opinion the bryston could be one of the best pre amps if it can use PLIIX on DTS-HD!

But it can´t right!?

It is possible to fix it via software update or is that a hardware problem?

Greetings from berlin
Matthias
