Hi Rod,
Caelin decided to do away with the added port because the additional wire harness that was necessary to connect the port to the Buss system in the Triton was found over time to detract slightly from the Typhons potential performance. This is the same reason we supply only a 1 meter power umbilical with the Typhon. Anything longer takes away some of what the Typhon can deliver.
The Typhon's electrical connection is already weak enough that it can take up to 30 minutes for its effect to become apparent. Adding that extra connection and small amount of wire running to the Buss audibly detracted from the Typhon's contribution, which Caelin found counterproductive to overall performance versus connecting the Typhon via an outlet on the Triton (which links directly to the Buss). The convenience aspect of the added outlet was a loss, of course, but because the Typhon is a performance-added product, we felt it important to consider that above convenience. We have customers that connect ancillary components such as cable-boxes, antennas or computers to the Triton via a PS8, which gives you added outlets, but I understand that for some, the additional port was preferred.
Best regards,
Grant
