Ok, very strange. USB works perfectly fine with JRiver and when using BDP-2 as a player via MPD, but not with Roon and with BDP-2 as endpoint. So maybe I skip the BDP-2 in the set-up because it works fine with Roon and use BDA-3 as endpoint. I like the features in Roon.

You need to go into the roon ready advance settings to choose the USB output over the spdif. This page is available from both the services page and from within roons settings page.

Currently I'm having a usb driver issue with my BDP-2 and my new McIntosh C2600 preamp with built-in DAC. The issue is when I stop or pause the music, I hear a static pop. Also I hear some intermittent static while music is being played back and a much lower output level compared to coax . The issue is only with the usb output of the BDP2 and the C2600 usb input. I have no issue when I connect them using coax but then of course I can't play my DSD files. When I called McIntosh about this problem, Chuck in their their technical support said the issue is that the Bryston's usb driver isn't compatible with the C2600 usb DAC. I called Bryston and talked with Mike Pickett and he said that they will take a look at making the BDP-2 usb driver compatible with the McIntosh DAC (bravo, great support by Bryston!). I hope this happens soon! I've been very pleased with Bryston's technical support team.

Bdp-2
The issue I was having has been resolved by Bryston technical support. Chris was able to make the necessary software changes while the BDP-2 was in service mode. All my issues have been resolved. The BDP-2 USB output works well into my McIntosh DAC. Kudos to Chris! Thanks so much to Bryston's technical support.
