This is my clamp. It has a bubble level in the top of it. Nice insurance for checking on a level platter.

There used to be (maybe still available) a record clamp, that had LED's built in, to check platter speed. I haven't seen it advertized for a while, but it was pricy, $400-$500 range if I remember correctly.
Anyway I too just replaced the Clearaudio Clever clamp with a Clearaudio Quatro clamp that is low profile for my Souther TQ-1 tonearm. After spending 6 hours setting up the TQ-1 arm, I was using the Clever Clamp, as the arm had a teflon spindle support, resting on the end of the spindle. After talking to a few people, they said the spindle support was mainly used for arm to spindle alignment. So bit the bullet, ordered a used Quatro clamp off of Audiogon. Removed the spindle support, put on David Bowie Ziggy Stardust, installed new clamp, and I can't believe how much better it sounds. More bass, more detail, my Sumiko Blackbird never sounded so good. Great upgrade and highly recommended !!! Was listening the 180 gram Back to Black version of Steely Dan's/Gaucho. I've never been able to listen to this record before as it would skip (seems like in the same place everytime), but last night, it played both sides perfectly. All's I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW !!! Take care, Lonnie

My Acutus has a nice heavy metal screw down clamp. It's hard to know if a change would improve things

Holy thread revival batman...
I think I am going to get one of these. I have the Twister, but don't really like having to twist/untwist all the time. Has anyone tried both short and tall versions and have opinions about them. I think the short might look sleeker on my Ovation, but the tall may be safer to use with its bigger gripping surface. What do you think?

I got my Qudro clamp today, the tall stainless version. I really like this a lot, much more than the Twister clamp I had. It's heavier, looks way nicer, and there is no twisting/untwisting required (which I thought was too much a PITA).

Sadly weight clamps are not useful in standard platters. Sorry but I don't agree
