Happy Birthday to the great pianist Murray Perahia
One of my favorite pianists turned 71 today. His ability to play a wide range of compositions and styles equally well has always impressed me. His recordings of Beethoven's Piano Concertos in the early 80s with Bernard Haitink and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra stands as my favorite to this day. His Mozart and Mendelssohn Piano Concerto recordings from the mid-70s thru the early 80s likewise stand as reference interpretations for me.
I hope to see him in concert before he retires.

On his 50th, he had a group of pro/am opera singers do The marriage of Figaro in his dining room, now that's class. One of them was a local librarian.
