Default DC offset -> dedicated DC blocker device

There are some inexpensive devices on the market that can solve the problem for low current devices but they also dramatically hurt audio performance. The Isotek is the only hi-end solution that I am aware of. We have developed prototypes that solve the problem and can handle over 30 A of current and sound quite good even when used with mega dollar amplifiers.

We just haven't decided if it is a problem that would provide a return on investment. The circuit could be added to an existing or up coming power conditioner but in our opinion it would need to be defeatable because 90% of the people would not need it. And then it adds to the cost of the product unnecessarily.

If we created a stand-alone DC blocker product, it would probably be the most expensive product of its type on the market. Necessarily so to perform at a level we feel is adequate to be used with +50K amplifiers without degrading their sonic capabilities.
Would be interested in a stand-alone DC blocker product. I think one of the advantages would be not adding to the cost of Shunyata products unnecessarily as you mentioned and purchased only for those who need it.

At present, I'm aware of the following offerings:
  • GigaWatt DC Offset blocker module (optional with their power distributor/conditioner products)
  • IsoTek Evo Syncro Uni
  • Supra DC-Blocker
  • Kemp Electronics DC X-TERMINATOR
  • PS Audio Humbuster (no longer available?)
  • Emotiva CMX-2 Precision Common Mode AC Line Filter With DC Offset Eliminator

Default iFi DC blocker

Following on my own post, iFi released an interesting DC blocker device.

Obviously not the quality of something Shunyata would release.

I would have liked to post a picture, but it is not possible from my iPad. I have Isotek Syncro and although I thought the cable was inferior to the Shunyata Sigma V1, at least it eliminated the Hum almost entirely. I decided to buy an Isotek Uni 16 Amp, to use with two Shunyata cables. Absolutely disappointed. It doesn't reduce Hum like the original Syncro does.

The Syncro cable is also something like twice the cost of the Syncro Uni.

Maybe you could use your pull/connections over at Shunyata Research and have them show iFi how it's done

It’s quite easy actually. It’s easiest in the iOS app, there are “camera” and “photo” buttons at the bottom of a new post. Just click on one, to either access the camera or your photo library, and when the dialog box about photo sharing pops up, click yes. IMG_0733.jpg

If using safari on your iPad, click on “go advanced,” then the paperclip icon, then “mange attachments,” then “choose file” and select camera or photo library.

Not in my case. The icon for accessing the photo library does not appear, for your picture number 2 and if I choose the picture icon it requires me to enter a URL.

[QUOTE=deafenears;1035846]The Syncro cable is also something like twice the cost of the Syncro Uni.

Well the impression I got is that the difference was in the cable, that the filter was the same. It seems that it is not. I have written to Isotek.
