I guess the remaining $1500/mo gets you the flexibility of having access to multiple car types. 911 for your daily commute, then an SUV for family weekend adventures. Still crazy expensive!
That assessment is a bit too optimistic. A 2014 Carrera S trades in the 65-75k range on the average with 25k miles on the clock. A new Carrera S with popular options is $120-$130k today and prices were not that different 3 years ago. That's a loss of $50k in 3 years on the average.

Ouch! That brings the monthly depreciation up to $1388. Guess that's why I'm keeping my trust old 911.

Absolutely should. The 997 series not mention the 993 and especially the earlier cars are only going up and up at this point. The 997 if bought right is a great way to enjoy a 911 and not lose a dime in depreciation in the years to come.

I'm sure they made their calculation at Porsche HQ. It seems that the program is very flexible and it would be amazing if in the future you can rent a Porsche wherever you are traveling.

I'm confident they'll find a market with people who are fine paying the monthly amount to be sure to always the greatest and latest. It's also the price for convenience and I can see a market there. Let's see how the availability is and if you can still get the car you want on the week-end.

I wish the range was a bit larger and going all the way to the turbo's and maybe even GT3 (maybe for an additional fee). Worth keeping a look on it.
