No need to drive them at the edge all the time, there are still things that can be appreciated even when driving at sane speeds. Heck, I probably can't use 60% of my Audi S4's ability on public roads, but that doesn't mean I am gonna trade it in on a 10 year old Kia? Nope

Of course I have never owned a Ferrari or other exotic (yet) and had to live with one every day, but I do borrow my friend's cars from time to time
Oh I’ve cranked them up (cars) believe me but I absolutely agree and that’s why I said “personally”. Others may very well disagree.

Agreed. As of now I would love to own a Ferrari, maybe because I haven't had to deal with the downsides to actual ownership. Seriously doubt I would buy a new one though, that depreciation is rough.

There were no downsides for me other than it's just too much car and too little use out of them. The new ones were under warranty and my used ones never broke down. I did not hold on to them for a very long time though and it can be very expensive for repairs for sure. Understanding the market will guide you to choose wisely and not lose money. A new one that is desirable like all their mid engine Berlinettas will give you a year to two to play around without losing a dime. To get one you have to build a relationship with a dealer. Buy a nice preowned F430 and get on the waiting list for a new model. You won't lose much on the depreciated model during the wait and you won't lose much if at all on the 488GTB replacement model that you can drive for a few years. I've owned 5 F-cars and it was not painful
